He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Noel Turpin and Evans Turpin; his brother Wilbur Turpin; his son David P. Turpin; and his stepson Roger Y. Gomez.

He is survived by: his wife Maria Amaya Turpin; his children, William Turpin, Joseph Turpin (Melanie), Sofia Dubinsky (David) and Michael Turpin; his stepchildren, Mariflor Montiel, Gloria Gomez, Pedro Gomez (Consuelo), Nicholas Gomez, Maybelis Fernandez (Manuel) and Frank Trevino; and his siblings, Betty Howell and James Turpin. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
