He is survived by: his children, Lydia Trista Smith, Autumn Rain Smith Sowards and Austin Gholson; his stepchildren, Audi McGraw, Marian McGraw, Timothy McGraw, Andrew McGraw and Lisa Stanley; and his siblings, Dock Smith of Wise, Alice Smith of Wise, Mollie Hiatt of Elwood and Juanita Mullins of Clintwood, Virginia.. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren.
