He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy "Bootsie" McCarthy; his father Garland McCarthy; and his siblings, Gary McCarthy, Jerry McCarthy and Lisa Florse.
He is survived by: his son Joseph (Dana); his grandchildren, Alexander and Abbigail; his mother Lorene McCarthy of Pound; and his siblings, Carey, Larry McCarthy of Statesboro, GA, Terry McCarthy of Pound, VA and Lora McCarthy. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews; fourteen great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
