He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Henry Baxter and Iler Stuckey Baxter; and his brothers, Billy Joe Baxter, Roy Baxter and Robert Baxter.

He is survived by: his wife Leonie Adelaide Wright Baxter; his daughters, Michelle Suzanne Northway (Michael), Nicola Marie Vandevender (Kevin) and Joanne Patricia McClish (David); his grandchildren, Michael Thomas Northway (Katie), Hillary Marie Love (Nikolaus) and Emma Joanne Vandevender; and his great grandchild William Thomas Northway.
