He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle Williams and John Francis Ashley; his son William Francis Ashley, Sr.; and his siblings, Edith Ashley Overton, Ertie Ashley Lane, Onita Ashley, Johnny Lee Ashley and Robert Francis Ashley.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Lee Riebe Ashley; his children, Janet Lee Spencer (Andy) and James E. Ashley, Jr.; his stepchildren, Tammy V. Jump (Don) and Ernest Parker, III; his grandchild Numerous; and his siblings, Thelma A. Lane and Herman Ashley (Carolyn). He is also survived by Numerous Great-Grandchildren; a Great-Great-Granddaughter.
