She was predeceased by: her father Graves Emerson; and her children, Pamela Kerns and Timothy M. Kerns. She is survived by: her husband Kenneth L. Smith; her sons, Jerry L. Smith, James W. Kerns and Kenneth M. Kerns; and her sister Ruby L. Lease. She is also survived by six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
