He was predeceased by: his parents, James Earl Ewing, Sr. and Anna Virginia Golladay Ewing; and his siblings, Clara V. Cook, Catherine L. Lovett, James E. Ewing, Jr. and John M. Ewing.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Webber; his children, Michael A. Ewing (Brenda) of Stephens City and Karen A. Ewing Heflin (John) of Stephens City, Virginia; his siblings, Nancy Ewing Weller and Billy M. "Bill" Ewing (Jeanette) of Winchester, Virginia; his grandchildren, Jennifer A. Ewing Newman (Colin), Kyle W. Ewing, John Michael Heflin, Jacob R. Heflin (Katie) and Cara G. Heflin; and his great grandchild Henry Thomas Newman.
