He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Shores and Mildred Dunlap Shores; and his siblings, William A. "Billy" Shores, Judy Moreland and Charlotte Costello.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth D. "Dian" Weigle Shores; his daughter Lynell Marple (Avery) of Front Royal, VA; his sisters, Joyce "Josie" Whitacre of Winchester, VA and Debbie Delawder of Winchester, VA; and his granddaughter Trinity Marple.
