He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Chestnut and Violee Carter; his wife Theresa L Hamilton; and his sister Theobia Peterson. He is survived by: his children, John H Chestnut, Jr. of Winchester, VA., Simeon Chestnut of Richmond, Michael Holliday of Winchester, VA. and Tammy Ashby (Thomas); his stepsons, Tyrone Hamilton and Keith Hamilton (Carrie); his grandchildren, Trey Golightly, Shannon Tutwiler, Josiah Ashby, Tommy Ashby, Joshua Ashby, Malachi Holliday, Mikayla Holliday, Elijah Holliday, Misha Moss, Bobbi Hamilton, Hamanni Hamilton and Nakia Cothran; and his siblings, James, Will Chestnut of Vaiden, MS and Lula E. Simpson of Waldorf, MD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
