He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy Burgess and Garnet Burgess; his son David E. Burgess, Jr.; and his siblings, Donald Burgess, Gary Burgess, Kyle Burgess, Bill Burgess, Daryl Burgess, Shelby Skaggs (Burgess) and Kesock (Burgess).
He is survived by: his significant other Martha W. Burgess (Stafford); his children, Tina Avery (Burgess) and Joshua Burgess; his daughter-in-law Dalia Burgess (Salah); his grandchildren, Rachael Avery, Michael Avery Jr., Seth Avery and Ethan Burgess; his great grandchild Sophia Montesinos; and his brother Chuck Burgess.
