He was predeceased by: his parents, Pat Greene and Donnie O. Benson; and his brother Donnie O. Benson, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Deana C. Benson; his children, Meghan Clark of Florida, Jessie Benson of Victoria, Brandon Benson of Wilsons and Lauren Benson of Green Bay, VA; and his siblings, Donna Cooper of North Carolina and Lonnie Benson of Blackstone. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
