He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Braxton Theis Jr. and Hilda Pence Theis. He is survived by: his wife Deirdre Garvey Theis (Dee); his sons, Adam (Meghan), Brandon (Aparna) and Logan; his grandchildren, Aria, Aiden and Hudson; and his sister Janet Theis Dellinger (Blair).

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels, Williamsburg House of Mercy, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“My heart breaks for the Theis family. When I moved to Williamsburg in 1979 Dr Theis became my Doctor. The best Dr that I have ever had. No one since he left for Langley has been able to fill those shoes and no one will. He was a friend as well as a caregiver. He cried with me when I told him of my Dad's passing in 1995. Thank you Dr Theis for being you and taking such good care of all of us. Prayers to the Theis family. RIP”
