He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Smart and Catherine Avis Smart. He is survived by: his wife Carol Myers Smart of Williamsburg; his children, Mary Catherine Smart of Williamsburg, Stacey Hurst (Mercer) of Yorktown and Scott Smart of Raleigh, NC; his grandson Carl of Raleigh; and his pet Oliver. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces.
