He was predeceased by: his mother Rosa Mae Sanders; his great-grandparent Ethel Damon Catten; and his grandfather Gussy. He is survived by: his children, Latanya Smith (Terry), Alta Pryor (Troy), Tawanda Simms, Matthew Sanders Jr. and Alan Simpson; and his siblings, Janie of Washington, Michael Sanders and Offie Sanders. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
