He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul William and Margaret Kathryn Smith; and his sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Ducharme and Alice Smith. He is survived by: his significant other Anna Louise; his children, Sharon (Timothy Lecklider), Gerard Jr. (Leslie Smith), Jennifer Smith, Lorraine Kinman (Richard Rosenthal) and Janine Smith; his grandchildren, Kathryn Lecklider (Nicholas), Lauren Lecklider (Nick), Sara Smith, Zachary Smith (Carrie), Brian Kinman, Daniel Kinman and Jason Kinman; his great grandchildren, Arlo Lyon, Lewis Lyon, Brooke Smith, Annabelle Smith and Milo Denny; and his siblings, Paul William Smith and Carol Ann Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or American Kidney Fund.
