He was predeceased by: his parents, Bettie F. Wilson Brown and Horace Brown; his brother James H. Brown Sr.; his aunt Matilda Wilson (Irene P. Brown); and his niece Mary Jane Conner.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, James H. Brown, Jr. (Brenda) of Newport News, VA., Wendell L. Brown (Melinda) of Wakefield, VA., Marie Wallace-Jefferson (Hubert) of Williamsburg, VA., Bettie Scarborough-Burton (Haywood) of Manteo, NC, Reedia C. Doyal (Bobby) of Williamsburg, VA. and Charlette M. Brown of Williamsburg, VA; his nephew-in-law Randolph Conner; his goddaughter ShaGloria of Washington; his friends, Donald "Butch" Moore and Natasha McFarland; and his caregivers, Phyllis and James Vauters. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
