We are sad to announce that on September 23, 2023, at the age of 76, Emma Lee McCleave of Williamsburg, Virginia, born in Gastonia, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Authur James Jr. and Cora Lee Sadler James; and her siblings, Dorothy James, Chandra Louise James, Gene James and Rosebud James.

She is survived by: her daughters, Chandra Upshaw (Dale) of Texas and LaDonna Cook (Shawn) of Virginia; her grandchildren, Ronnie, Nyla, DaShawn, RaShawn and Destiny; and her siblings, Shirley Woody, Connie James of North Carolina, Jessie James of North Carolina and Herbert James of Bronx. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
