He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Wimer and Nola Wimer (Sponaugle); his wife Doris Jean Wimer; his son Wade Wimer; his stepdaughter Sandy Brown; and his siblings, Arbutus Jones, Joyce Craun and Sherwood Wimer.
He is survived by: his sons, Terry Wimer (Susan) of Grottoes and Mitch Wimer of Swoope; his stepchildren, Paul "Bo" Bayne (Vickie) of Staunton and Nancy Leach (Randy) of Staunton; his siblings, Lee Wimer (Rosemary) of Doylestown, PA, Jerry Wimer of Virginia Beach, Leona Wyant (Nelson) of Weyers Cave and Janice Bibb (Douglas) of Barren Ridge; and his caregiver Darlene Hamilton. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
