She was predeceased by: her parents, Glyndon Simmers and Kathleen Taylor Simmers; her former husband Lewis "Lew" Calvin DeWitt, Jr.; her son Brian Z. DeWitt; her brothers, Carl "Butch" Simmers and Kenneth Simmers; her nephew Kevin Goode; and her nieces, Kathy Breeden and Carol Cauthen.
She is survived by: her children, Shannon L DeWitt-Kuehle (Chad), Donna K. DeWitt Divers and Denver D. DeWitt (Melody Collins); her siblings, Dennis W. Simmers (Eva) and LaVonne S. Cauthen (Sid); her grandchildren, Chloe Divers, Zachary DeWitt (Ashley Ramsey), LeAnn Wimer (Emily King), Samantha Gray and Lili Warren; her nieces, Jacqui Sargent, Karen Bishop, Shenandoah Simmers, Alicia Midkiff and Denise Welcher; her aunt Thoris Krafft; her cousin Stephanie Wallace; and her close friends, Faye Hayes, Donna Harris and Kitty Lindsay.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Henry Funeral Home (1030 W Beverley St, Staunton, VA 24401).
In honor of her life, memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939) or to the Friends of the Shenandoah Animal Services Center (104 Lanchester Court, Waynesboro, VA 22980), a testament to the love and care that defined Glenda's journey here on earth.
