She was predeceased by: her husband Alvie Carlton; her parents, John Robert Brooks, Sr. and Lucille Shackleford Brooks; and her siblings, Myrtis Jones, Frances Revere and John R. "Bubba" Brooks, Jr..
She is survived by: her son Troy Carlton (Colleen); and her friends, Jean Carlton, Margie Longest, Linda Bristow, Trudy Sears, Ruth West, Doris Morris and Carroll Hazzard. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and numerous lifelong friends.
