He was predeceased by: his parents, David Zwerner and Marjorie Zwerner; and his brother Stephen E. Zwerner. He is survived by: his wife Julie Zwerner; his children, Daniel Zwerner, Abigail Zwerner and Hannah Zwerner; his brother Thomas L. Zwerner (Joan); his cousins, Susan Morgan (Troy), Phyllis Fenno, Debbie Bowman and Charles Fenno (Mary); his parents-in-law, Sidney Dugas (Ann), Rob Dugas (Lesa), Susan Haselwood (Jimmie), Karen Pierce and Amy Brown (Eric); and his nieces and nephews, Jami Morris, Bonni Hess, Lauryn Bissell, Josh White, Nick White, Kristen Belleville, Chris Dugas, Rachel Pearson, Nathan Talbert, Kenneth Pierce, Stephen Pierce, Hunter Zwerner, Arden Brown and Benjamin Brown.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of John, memorial contributions may be made to Shenandoah National Park or West Point Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
