He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Christopher Stepp and Lillian Pearl Stepp (Bruce); his wife Kathryn Jean Stepp (Fisher); his daughter Elizabeth Jean Stepp; his siblings, Elbert C. Stepp, Jr., William A. Stepp, Frank Stepp, James O. "Jimmy" Stepp and Emma Bell Heightchew; and his daughter-in-law Jessica Ramsey Stepp.

He is survived by: his son Dennis Lee Stepp (Wanda) of Stuarts Draft; his grandchildren, Cody Stepp (Emily) and Laura Tyson (Mark); his great grandchildren, Avery Tyson and Devon Stepp; and his sister Eva Morris of Wilson, NC.
