It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Bates of Waynesboro, Virginia, born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, who passed away on January 30, 2021, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Conley Holcomb and Dorothy Holcomb; and her husband John Harrison Bates. She is survived by: her son Troy C. Bates (Tonya Bates) of Waynesboro; her stepgrandchildren, Autumn Alley, Matthew McDaniel and David McDaniel; her siblings, Dianne Greene of Mooresburg, Tennessee, Marvin Holcomb of Mooresburg and David Holcomb of New Market, Maryland; her close friends, Kevin and Brandy Marsh; and also, Logan, Hunter, Makynze and Kimberly Dick.
