He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Paul Schmitt and Jeanette Kuziej Schmitt; and his brother Larry Schmitt. He is survived by: his wife Marie Sandy Schmitt; his children, Nancy Schmitt of Waynesboro and Gary Schmitt (Marie Bridget Schmitt) of San Francisco; and his grandchildren, David Stushek, Kaycie Stushek, Erin Stushek, Sarah Schmitt, Ben Schmitt and Emily Schmitt.
