She was predeceased by: her parents, James K. Whitney and Florence H. Whitney; her husband Clarence R. Gray; her sisters, Mary Ricks and Gladys Ricks; her daughter Vanessa G. Johnson; and her granddaughter Martina D. Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Mayvis Petticolas of Waverly and Clarence "Mike" Gray of Waverly, Virginia; her brother Frank Whitney of Massachusetts; her sisters-in-law, Stella "" Thomas of Newport News and Claudine Green of Hampton, Virginia; and her aunts and uncles, Joyce Winfield, Louise Conley, Lucy Williams, Dolly Hicks, Marvin Whitney and Sidney Whitney. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
