She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin S. Payne and Emma B. Payne. She is survived by: her husband James W. Harper, Sr.; and her daughter Stella Stanley of New Kent, VA.. She is also survived by 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
