He was predeceased by: his parent Mary Elizabeth Smoot Russell; his brother James; his stepsons, Turner and Thomas Yates; and his significant other Gwendolyn Smoot.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Gwendolyn (Leo), Teresa, Jonathan, Chanita (Orlando), Christina, Janee and Stephen; his great grandchildren, Shavonne (Bryce) and Shakia; and his nieces, Gloria Mabry and Elizabeth Smoot (Anne).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moser Funeral Home, Inc. (233 Broadview Ave, Warrenton, VA 20186). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Springs Baptist Church (9307 Springs Rd, Warrenton, VA 20186). A burial was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Culpeper National Cemetery.
