He was predeceased by: his mother Melva Dean Harden; his grandparents, Henry Houston Harden and Ollie Doak; his brother Henry Frederick Harden; his uncle Ernest Hill; his stepfather Robert Smith; his brother-in-law Theodore Sparrow; and his aunt Virginia Hill.

He is survived by: his wife Kay Sparrow; his children, George Jr. (Kristi), Kimberley and Theodore (Tyrah); his grandchildren, Jasmine Vaughn (DeVaughn), Kia Harden, Kayce Owens, Kylen Harden, Georgia Harden, Noah Walke, Houston Harden, Hassan Harden and Eden Harden; his great grandchildren, Peyton Vaughn, Riley Vaughn and Dorian Vaughn; and his siblings, Jeffrey Smith (Marion), Gregory Smith and Velma Henry (Roy). He is also survived by other relatives, including sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

Viewing will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Beach Funeral & Cremation Services (4456 Bonney Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens (6309 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502).

“I can’t grasp the fact that George has passed away. He was such a jovial person, and my family and I enjoyed his company over the years when we lived in VA Bch. I worked with George for so many years, and he was my keynote speaker when I retired. In fact we became very close friends and continued our friendship until his end. I offer my sympathy and prayers to Kay and his family during this sad time. May God grant us peace and mercy!”
