She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Lawton and Blanche Hillburn White; her husband David H. Mapes; her grandson Christopher Mapes; and her brother Bill Turner.
She is survived by: her sister Geneva Pounds; her children, David Mapes (Rachel), Daniel Mapes (Cheryl), Debra Cubitt (David), Dianna Scarborough (Harvey) and Darlene Worden (Jason); her grandchildren, Lauren Price, Michael Thomas, Brittany Price, Brandi Mapes, Allyson Mapes, Danny Mapes Jr., Katlyn Thomas, Haley Whitesell-Mills, John Warren III, Adriana Mapes, Sebastian Mapes and Emma Worden; her great grandchildren, Aubree, Addilyn, Mason, Orion, Alara, Alton, John, Jessilyn, Donnee, Sophia and Mackenzie; and her niece Sheila Myers.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Altmeyer-Chesapeake Chapel (929 S Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
