He is survived by: his wife Connie Carey; his siblings, Bonny Griffin (Dink), Mike Carey (Karen) and Tim Carey (Vicki); his children, Josh Carey (Rachel), Carmen Rockhill (Ryan), James Meehan (Melissa), Scott Meehan (Autumn) and Trista Strait; his son-in-law Travis; his grandchildren, Emma Carey, Kyle Rockhill, Vivian Carey, Dakoda Meehan, Conner Meehan, Anya Rockhill, Aislyn Carey, Annaliese Strait, Eloise Strait, Mackenzie Meehan, Della Meehan and Luke Strait; his niece Shandra Witcher Plourde; and his nephews, Eric Witcher, Jesse Carey, Jeremy Carey and Jake Carey.

In remembrance of Dale's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
