She was predeceased by: her husband James Nelson Hatchell; her parents, Leona Halstead and Ray Warren Halstead; and her brother Warren Ray Halstead. She is survived by: her close friend Jimmie A. Dozier; her children, Melinda Saunders (Mike) and Mark E. Vaughan; her stepdaughter Leslie Hatchell O'Conner; her granddaughter Molly Constance Solmson Vaughan; and her friends, Vince Dozier and Bob Loeffler.
