He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Loftis Overbey; his children, Christy Overbey Newton (Vince) of Buffalo Junction, Chasity Overbey Bowen (Steven) of Virgilina, Charity Overbey Milam (Josh) of Clarksville and William Ronald "Ron" Overbey, Jr. (Jessica) of Oxford, NC; his grandchildren, Tyler, Cale (Nate Newton), Bailey, Avarie (Brycen Bowen), Colton (Caden Milam) and Addison (William Ronald "Will" Overbey III); his sister Shelby Schout (Philip) of Hudsonville, MI; his parents-in-law, Don and Alice Loftis; and his brothers, Tim (Dale Loftis), Andy (Cindy Loftis), Joey (Donna Hastings) and Jimmy Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered to Halifax County Cancer Association or Sentara Halifax Hospice.
