He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Henry Thompson and Lucille Francis Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Vickey F. Thompson; his daughter Stacey Owens (Josh) of Virgilina; his grandson Cory Glass (Savonna) of Christiansburg; his siblings, Cecil Thompson (Hazel), Harold Thompson (Sandra), Presley Thompson (Lori), Elaine Hunt, Ann Elliott (Dean) and Bonita Baylous (Steve); and his nephew Presley Wayne ThompsonSister (Thompson).

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Mount Cana Church (6046 Bill Tuck Hwy, South Boston, VA 24592). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Cana Church (6046 Bill Tuck Hwy, South Boston, VA 24592).
