We are sad to announce that on August 9, 2020, Wayne Ayers of Vinton, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Ann Stinson Ayers; his daughters, Rebecca Romney (Leighton) of Colonia Juarez, Mexico, Patricia Bohon (Kevin) of Roanoke, VA and Kathy Summers (Tom) of Antelope, CA.; his grandchildren, Laura, Stacey, Robert, Jeff, Kreg, Erik and Jenna; his siblings, Janet Johnson of Troutville, VA and Curtis Ayers (Dreama) of Salem; and his parents, Harold Ayers and Thora Ayers. He was also cherished by cousins and in-laws, and countless wonderful friends.

Due to restrictions and concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus, a small, private family service was held at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meeting house in Vinton.

Through their efforts, Wayne's Parkinson's diagnosis did not define his life.

“I saw Wayne many times over the years,but not lately. He was always cheerful,kind and upbeat. My principle gratitude toward him,is his role as first Seminary Teacher,in Roanoke valley WAY back in 1963. A pioneer for sure. My father’s fault. Wayne jumped in with dedication and verve,setting a standard for all who came after.. I know he will be SO missed . One great thing that comes with a testimony of my faith,is knowledge that parting is but a brief moment. See you soon!!!”
