He was predeceased by: his parents, James Harvey and Clara Alice Spade Haynes; his grandson Jason Thacker; and his siblings, Alice Maddy, Vella Bowyer and James Morrison Haynes.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Lee "Becky" Haynes; his children, Annette Haynes Cooper and John D. Haynes, Jr.; his grandchildren, J. D. Haynes and Cameron David Cooper; his great grandchildren, Jay-Paul Haynes and Presleigh Faye Haynes; and his brother Robert Haynes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Oakey's Vinton Chapel (627 Hardy Rd, Vinton, VA 24179). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
