He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Dunning Hypes and Charlotte Gaye Hypes; his grandparents, Garland Eldridge Hypes, Aldine Dunning Hypes, Roy A. Simmons and Grace Evelyn Simmons of Bluefield, WV; his brother-in-law Anthony Eugene McCardle; and his aunts and uncles, David Simmons, Danny Simmons, Larry Simmons, Joy Sarver, Zerna Crouch and Judy Sarver.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lauren Kay Hypes and Lindsey Renee Hypes; his sister Kimberly Hypes McCardle; his niece Ashley Nicole McCardle; his nephew Justin Ryals McCardle; his great-niece Hollynd; his uncles, Glenn Hypes, Charles Hypes (Betty Hypes) and Roy "Chip" Simmons, Jr.; his parents-in-law, McClellan R. Bresee and Kazuko Yogi Bresee; and his sisters-in-law, Suzanne Bresee Snyder (Stanley Snyder) and Linda Bresee McLaughlin (Michael McLaughlin). He is also survived by friends and everyone's children as well as helping coach his daughters.
