He was predeceased by: his wife Juanita Duke Houff; his daughter Brenda Pleasant (Tommy); and his siblings, Helen Bowe (Red) and Earl (Martha). He is survived by: his children, Carla Hastings (Ed), James Houff Jr. (Benita) and Gary Houff (Connie); his grandchildren, Cory Hastings (Emily), Jamie Hanchar (Wade), Todd Houff (Shannan), Matt Houff, Chad Pleasant (Lindsay), Sarah Doss (Matt), Amanda Beard (Dale) and Callie Houff; his great grandchildren, Logan Hastings, Landon Hastings, Tatum Hanchar, Wyatt Hanchar and Jackson Doss; and his close friend Peggy Markham. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
