He was predeceased by: his parents, Betty Bridgeman Mullis (Welch) and Arthur Welch; his grandparents, Ernest and Goldia Bridgeman; his brother Douglas Craig Welch; his parents-in-law, Roy and Margaret Adams; and his pets, Frisco, Ellie Mae and Connie.

He is survived by: his wife Connie; his former wife Ruth Lester (Hodges); his children, Cory Lynne Welch and Amy Leigh Welch of Roanoke; his daughter-in-law Fran Welch of Forest; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Welch and Brandon (Lynn); his sons, Shiloh, Meghann Hartman, Wyatt Hartman and Mason Welch; his siblings, Randy Welch, Tamera Cline and Marvin Mullis; and his friends, Deidre Lloyd, Danny, Kathy Williams, Karen Richards, Dalton Lloyd and Sugar (Shug). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
