He was predeceased by: his father Lonzo Willard; his brother Richard Willard; and also Cecily Willard. He is survived by: his father Poppie; his wife Patricia Willard; his children, David Jr., Brian Willard (Tracy) and Annette Gilmore (Chad); his grandchildren, Brandon Willard (Sissy), Hailey Conner (Andy), Cole Willard, Joel Willard, Hunter Ison, Madison Willard (Jake) and Clayton Gilmore; his great grandchildren, Ty Willard, Sadie Willard and Mason Conner; and his brothers, Danny Willard and Tommy Willard.

David Alonzo Willard, Sr., 76, of Vinton, passed away peacefully from complications related to Alzheimer's disease in the Paliative Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
