With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Claude Matthews (Vinton, Virginia), born in Blacksburg, Virginia, who passed away on October 31, 2018 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Ilona C. Matthews; and his parents, Claude Watson Matthews Sr. and Thelma Beatty Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Doris Plunk-Matthews; his daughters, Sonja Phillips (Dave), Wendy McDonald (Joe), Teresa Rogers (Bill) and Julie Craun (David); his grandsons, Seth, Tyler, Will, Andrew, Hayden, Landon, Harrison and Liam; and his pet Maggie.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to either the Vinton Baptist Building Fund or to Good Samaritan Hospice at goodsamhospice.com.
