Mary Blackwell Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Blackwell of Vienna, Virginia, born in Fairmont, West Virginia, who passed away on November 11, 2021 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Herbert D. Benington; her parents, Arvil and Leona; and her sisters, Arvillee and Ann.
She is survived by: her brother Joe Fondaw (Brenda) of Hueytown; her children, Steven Blackwell (Pati) of Sterling and Rachel Jones (Stephen) of Vienna, VA.; her grandchildren, Bethany (Jason), Ryan, Riley, Jack, Sydney, Malcom, Emma and Charlie; and her great grandchild Alice.
Mary was passionate about education and preserving our environment and was a supporter of WETA, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Smithsonian. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association.
