He was predeceased by: his parents, Hume Wingfield Massie and Lola Phelps Massie; his brother John Arthur Massie; and his great grandchild Tyson Tharpe. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Jean Massie; and his children, Karen Massie of Victoria, Rene Massie of Victoria, Monica Bottoms (Danny) of Victoria, Amy Chester of Victoria and Hume E. "Eddie" Massie, Jr. of Chesapeake. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
