He was predeceased by: his parents, Doc Dales and Laura Mae Gilbert Dales; his son Leonard Junior Dales; and his siblings, Stella Hess, Agnes Keene, Graham, Junior, Jimmy, Robert, Danny and Luther Dales.
He is survived by: his former wife Donna Gail Lester Dales of Big Rock, VA; his children, April Renee Dales of Abingdon, VA and Kenard Dales (Arlene) of Pounding Mill, VA; his sisters, Shirley Ratliff of Abingdon, VA, Judy Keene (Bob) of Cliffield, VA and Francis Rizzico; his grandchildren, Cody Ryan Dales, Morgan McKenley Dales, Kendra Brooke Howery and Ally Mitchell; and his great grandchild Henry Mitchell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 and guidelines set forth by the Governor of Virginia, the family will receive ten friends at a time during visitation from 6:00 p. m. until the funeral hour of 7:00 p. m.
