It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dennis Witton Childress of Vansant, Virginia, who passed away on February 18, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Dennis Witton may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Dennis Witton touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James E. Childress and Barbara Childress; and his siblings-in-law, Patricia Abshire, Peggy Russell, Andrew Moore and Kelly Russell.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Ross Childress; his brothers, Jim Wayne Childress (Margaret) and Warren Childress (Diane); his children, Catherine Rasnake Hunnicutt (Joseph), Patrick Ross Childress (Brittney) and Virginia Claire McClanahan (Daniel); and his brother-in-law Greg Absher. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
