She was predeceased by: her parents, James Morris and Martha Morris; her husband Joseph "Ned" Dowell, Sr.; her brothers, Reginald Morris (Gracie), Robert "Hugo" Morris, William Morris and Sirell Carey; and her grandson Jovon Burruss.
She is survived by: her sons, Joseph Dowell Jr., James Dowell (Katina) and Joshua Dowell (Nitika); her adoptive daughter Diane Winston; her sisters-in-law, Delores Jackson, Patsy Clark (Jonathan) and Ann Morris; her grandchildren, Jamal Dowell, Devante Dowell (Candace), James Dowell Jr., Makail Johnson (Chyna), Jayden Dowell and Jamar Burruss; her great grandchildren, Jatavious, Julian Dowell, Marlee Napier, Zuri, Zhen Dowell, Kairee Johnson, Aaliyah, Aamya Burruss and Jayla Curry; and her close friend Phyllis Rush (Tata Bug).
