It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerry Williams Saunders Sr. of Troutville, Virginia, born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, who passed away on August 9, 2021, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Reed and Helen Frances Trail Saunders; his wife Bonnie Bishop Saunders; and his daughter Cathie Ciavone. He is survived by: his children, Jay Saunders, Jr. (Mary) of Salem, Don Ciavone' (Kitty) of Michigan, Denise Poplaskie (Lenny) of Michigan, Tammy Iskandar (Joe) of Troutville and Brandi Walker (Chris) of Troutville; his grandchildren, Maressa Prah (Kyle), Haley Saunders, Sarah Allen (Cameron), Amanda Abraham, Frank Poplaskie, Megan Poplaskie, Steven Poplaskie, Julie Poplaskie, Nathan Powers (Kinzee), Catie Iskandar and Isis Iskandar; his great grandchildren, Mikey Johns, Delaney Johns, Ethan Saunders-Walker, Tristyn Walker, Zach Combs, Kylie Prah, Evie Eppard, Kendall Prah, LeStat Cullens, Lily Allen and Jaxon Powers; and his siblings, James Saunders (Carol) of Moneta, Roby Saunders of North Carolina, Alice Mathis of North Carolina and Susie Trejo of Thaxton.
