He was predeceased by: his parents, Vester T. Hamm and Mary E. Blevins Hamm; and his sister Carolyn Witt. He is survived by: his wife Mary Trent Hamm; his sons, David Jr. Hamm (Genie) of Troutville and Matt Hamm (Aimee) of Bent Mountain; his grandchildren, Tabitha Varney (Jared), William Ball (Rachel), Chase Hamm (Kaila Blackstone), Kendall Hamm and Kellen Hamm; and his great grandchildren, Mary Collins Varney, Hazel Varney, Isaac Ball and Raleigh Grace Hamm. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
