He was predeceased by: his former wife Janet Smith. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Wisecarver of Greeneville, TN; his daughters, Laraye Berry (Jeff) and Cynthia Gallant (Mitch); and his grandchildren, Jesse Garland, Adam Gallant (Arlissa), Kaitlyn Jackson (Jake) and Jacob Berry. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Covenant Funeral Service - Fredericksburg (10830 Patriot Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22408). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Quantico National Cemetery (18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA 22172).
In recognition of his significant contributions to the community, Dixon-Smith Middle School was named in his honor in 2007.
