He was predeceased by: his parents, Severn Eyre Rippon and Eleanor Collins Rippon of Virginia; and his brother John D. Rippon. He is survived by: his wife Olivia Oakley Rippon; his children, Ruth Rippon Snowney (Brad) of North Carolina, Beverly Wagner of Belwood, VA and Brian Morgan (Sheri) of Louisiana; his brothers, Thomas Lee Rippon (Mariam) of Delaware and Smitty Rippon of Florida; his grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Sidney of Josh, B. J., Joseph, Christopher, Matthew and Beth; and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Skylar, Trent, Blair of Mya, M. J., Abby, Gabe, Tyler, Molly and Arrabella.
