He was predeceased by: his brother John H. Mack; and his former wife Mary Tayloe Mack. He is survived by: his wife Catherine; his sister Lucy G. Mack; and his sister-in-law Barbara A. Gerlach. He is also survived by six children, and nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Piedmont Environmental Council, Windy Hill Foundation, and The Hill School of Middleburg, Virginia.
